Description

What type of wine it is

Bel Colle's Barolo Monvigliero is a still red wine from Piedmont, made from Nebbiolo grapes with a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin (DOCG). This wine is distinguished by its robust yet velvety style, with a broad and multifaceted olfactory profile and a fresh acidity that accompanies the long finish. Its complex structure, refined through prolonged maturation in large oak casks, makes it an elegant expression, ideal for pairing with red meats and matured cheeses.

Where it comes from

This red originates in Piedmont, in the municipality of Verduno, within the renowned Barolo area. The grapes grow in the historic Monvigliero cru, characterised by a striking natural amphitheatre shape facing south and south-west. The vines, with an average age of twenty-five years, benefit from a dry climate that ensures slow and steady ripening of the clusters. The soils are light and loose, composed mainly of limestone clay, a fundamental characteristic that gives the wine its marked aromatic finesse and a well-defined tannic structure, reflecting the authenticity of this specific hilly territory.

How it is produced

Processing involves fermentation carried out in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The post-fermentation maceration lasts from twenty-two to twenty-five days, followed by malolactic fermentation. Maturation takes place in large oak casks for a minimum period of twenty-four months, enriched by a six-month rest on its own lees. The process concludes with a final rest, for a total ageing of thirty-eight months, which allows the harmony, structure, and longevity of this classic expression to consolidate.
