Description
Wine type
The Franciacorta Rosé Extra Brut by Barone Pizzini is an organic wine from Lombardy, a blend that combines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Produced using the Metodo Classico (Classic Method), it is distinguished by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it expresses aromas of wild strawberry, bread crust, and pink peppercorn. The palate reveals a dense texture and excellent freshness, enriched by notes of pomegranate and hints of forest floor, proving to be harmonious and ideal for pairing with baked fish or a selection of cured meats.
Origin
The grapes grow in Lombardy, in hillside vineyards trained using the Guyot system. The Pian delle Viti plot is located on a plateau of ancient marine origin shaped by glaciers, characterised by red soil particularly rich in iron. The other vineyards take root in fluvioglacial and morainic soils, defined by a highly draining gravelly and pebbly substrate. This specific geological composition ensures the optimal development of the vines and gives the wine an unmistakable taut and clean profile.
How it is produced
After the manual harvest, the whole grapes undergo soft pressing and cold maceration. Primary fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by ten months of ageing between steel vats and wooden barrels. The subsequent second fermentation in the bottle, as required by the Metodo Classico, involves a slow maturation on the lees for 30-40 months. The final Extra Brut dosage provides a dry sip of great expressive precision.
