Description

What type of wine it is

Baron de L, produced by De Ladoucette, is a dry white wine from the Loire Valley made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, considered a benchmark for the Pouilly-Fumé appellation and aged on its lees in stainless steel. In the glass, it presents a pale gold colour with greenish highlights, introducing a complex bouquet where white peach, gooseberry, citrus and white flowers stand out, accompanied by distinct herbaceous and mineral notes and the typical smoky nuance. On the palate, it offers a rich and silky texture, balanced by a fresh and vibrant acidity. The persistent finish makes it an ideal pairing for oysters, shellfish, goat's cheeses and Asian cuisine dishes.

Where it comes from

This Pouilly-Fumé originates in the Loire Valley, in the prestigious area of Pouilly-sur-Loire. Production takes place at Château du Nozet, a historic estate whose roots date back to the 18th century. The vineyards are cultivated on limestone soils, a fundamental geological characteristic that gives the wine its typical finesse and a deeply mineral finish. The grapes come from various selected parcels, managed to extract the most authentic expressions of the terroir and ensure a clear aromatic profile and a consistent identity over time.

How it is produced

Processing begins with separate vinification for each individual parcel, aimed at enhancing its unique characteristics. A soft pressing is carried out to extract only the first-press must, followed by double fermentation. The wine is aged on its lees for a period of between three and six months in stainless steel tanks, preserving the integrity of the fruit. This is followed by the creation of the blend, which precedes a maturation phase of eight to ten months in neutral containers or glass tanks, ending with a final rest of five months before being released onto the market.

From this winery
One of the most famous and long-lived cellars of the entire Burgundy is in the hands of the Ladoucette family since the eighteenth century, from 1787 exactly, the year in which the then owners, the Comte Lafond family, bought the land from the illegitimate daughter of the French king Louis XV .

Over the years, the constant work of the family has transformed the wines of Pouilly-Fumé into products of excellent quality, making them very capable of rivaling high heads with all the remaining best whites in the world. In 1972, the Baron de Ladoucette inherited the original land and extended it by buying plots in the Sancerre, Pouilly-Fuissé, Chablis, Champagne, Vouvray and Chinon regions, thus extending the family's centuries-old wine-making business. .

Today the maison de Ladoucette is able to perfectly match technological innovation and winemaking tradition, quality and great numbers, aiming to maintain the link with the territory and its microclimate, and creating top-of-the-range products in every area. In the vineyard, every precaution and every agronomic practice are aimed at maintaining the balance of the environment and the ecosystem unaltered, and the plants are reared with care and with meticulous care to say the least. In the winery, tradition has it that each plot and each single cru are vinified separately, so as to enhance and enhance the intrinsic characteristics of the fruit and the peculiarities deriving from the composition of the soil: from de-stemming to crushing, from fermentation at controlled temperatures until aging. , each step is strictly supervised and managed so as to work the grapes keeping them distinct according to the parcel of origin.

From all this come to life labels to say the least extraordinary, among which we can mention one to recall them all, remembering the Pouilly-Fumé "Baron del L", wine that is produced only in the best vintages and that, with its extreme elegance and with its exceptional finesse, is currently unanimously and unequivocally recognized not only as one of the best French Sauvignon, but in general as one of the best Sauvignon in the world.
