Description

What kind of wine it is

Stilnovo Governo all’Uso Toscano is a rich red wine produced by Banfi. The blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Teroldego creates a full and velvety glass. On the nose, intense notes of cherry and ripe plum stand out, enriched by hints of wild berries and floral touches of violet. On the palate, it is smooth, supported by well-integrated tannins and a pleasant freshness. The tasting ends with a savoury and persistent finish, ideal paired with mature cheeses, red meats and flavourful first courses.

Where it comes from

This wine is born in the heart of Tuscany, in the renowned area of Montalcino. The Banfi estate cultivates its vines on prime land, where a favourable microclimate ensures optimal ripening of the grapes. The use of sustainable farming practices protects local biodiversity and guarantees healthy harvests rich in aromatic intensity. The combination of altitude and sun exposure allows for a Tuscan red with a harmonious and dynamic profile.

How it is produced

Vinification begins with fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. Afterwards, the Governo all’Uso Toscano technique is applied, triggering a refermentation by adding partially dried grapes to give greater body and complexity. The process continues with ageing on the lees for about six months, ideal for enhancing the roundness and velvety texture. Finally, a period in wooden barrels completes the process, giving the wine impeccable balance.

History and Curiosities

Born in 1978 from the vision of the Mariani brothers, Stilnovo Governo all’Uso Toscano embodies the modern elegance of the Banfi winery. Created by oenologist Matteo Bagnoli, this enveloping Toscana IGT 2025 revives an ancient local tradition through refermentation on partially dried grapes. This method enriches the structure of the Sangiovese-based blend, giving it a velvety texture and intense notes of black cherry and wild berries. A red wine with savoury persistence, skilfully combining history and innovation in a dynamic and satisfying sip.

Founded in 1978 by the vision of Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, Banfi represents a marriage of winemaking passion and technological innovation. Through collaboration with Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's most eminent winemakers, the land purchased in Montalcino was transformed into a crucible of quality and potential. The acquisition of the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone subsequently further enriched the portfolio, integrating the sparkling wine tradition of Piedmont into the Banfi world.

Always pioneers, we value research and people, respecting the territories in which we work. For a better wine world. We see a global and connected world, where differences are wealth. The products of our land, to be defended and enhanced, are the best expression of human labor and ingenuity.
