Description
What kind of wine it is
Banfi Brut Metodo Classico is a sparkling white wine from Piedmont, created from a balanced blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. The refermentation using the Traditional Method ensures a fine and very persistent perlage, which enhances the bright straw-yellow colour. On the nose, it offers clear aromas of peach and citrus, enriched by hints of bread crust and pale almond. The palate is soft, fresh and fruity, balanced by a distinct savoury note that leads to a dry and pleasantly citrusy finish.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine is produced in Banfi's cellars in the municipality of Strevi, Piedmont. The area boasts a strong tradition for sparkling wine production, providing an ideal environment for growing grapes destined for sparkling bases. Originating from this specific part of Piedmont defines the wine's identity, giving it a pronounced character focused on freshness and aromatic precision. Recognised as a quality sparkling wine, it faithfully reflects the characteristics of its terroir, expressing a clear and well-defined aromatic profile.
How it is produced
The process follows the Traditional Method, involving a meticulous second fermentation in the bottle. After the prise de mousse, the wine rests on the lees for between 24 and 30 months, an essential stage for developing fragrant notes and ensuring an extremely fine effervescence. The process continues with the usual remuage on pupitres, completed by disgorgement à la glace to guarantee perfect clarity. Careful management of the ageing on the lees results in a linear Brut, where delicate acidity is integrated with remarkable structural balance.
History and Curiosities
Born in the historic cellars of Strevi, where the tradition of the Classic Method has been handed down since 1860, this Brut combines Piedmontese heritage with Banfi's modern vision. Thanks to a rigorous 24-month maturation on the lees, the wine fully expresses the vibrant freshness of the three noble grape varieties that compose it. Multi-award-winning at home and boasting the prestigious 90 points awarded by James Suckling, this sparkling wine celebrates Italian sparkling excellence: a refined oenological masterpiece, perfect for elegantly enhancing your toasts and most special moments.
