Description
What kind of wine it is
The Brunello di Montalcino by Castello Banfi is a renowned Tuscan red wine that authoritatively expresses its territory of origin. Made exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes, it offers a warm and structured sip on the palate, supported by compact and elegant tannins. The tasting concludes with persistent and pleasant balsamic notes, set within a deep aromatic profile. On the nose, intense scents of fine woods, coffee beans and tobacco emerge, harmoniously intertwined with delicate notes of blackberry and forest fruit jam.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located on the southern slope of the municipality of Montalcino, in a hilly area caressed by the Orcia, Asso and Ombrone rivers. The fortunate geographical position, halfway between the sea and the Apennine range, favours an exceptional continental Mediterranean climate, generally dry, which ensures a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. The vines sink their roots into brown-yellow soils with a frank sandy texture, rich in limestone and characterised by an abundant rounded skeleton: key elements that give the wine its unmistakable structure and tannic precision.
How it is produced
The creation of this red begins with a meticulous selection of Sangiovese Grosso grape bunches. The must undergoes temperature-controlled maceration in combined steel and wooden vats, with fermentation lasting around ten to twelve days. The aim is a measured extraction that enhances the purity of the varietal aromas. Ageing involves a rest of at least two years, during which the wine matures in large French oak barrels and smaller casks. The process concludes with a further final ageing period, a fundamental step to integrate and define the entire aromatic structure.
