Description
What kind of wine it is
Santa Cristina Lugana Vigneto Massoni by Zenato is a white wine with controlled designation of origin from Veneto, vinified in steel, expressing the pure essence of Trebbiano di Lugana (Turbiana). In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour with greenish highlights and an intense bouquet, where delicate floral notes intertwine with fresh hints of citrus, peach and pineapple. On the palate, it reveals a pronounced savoury minerality, perfectly balanced by a soft and enveloping sip. The tasting flows harmoniously, offering a persistent finish characterised by subtle nuances of almond and honey.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Peschiera del Garda, on the southern shore of the lake, in a territory particularly suited for Zenato. The grapes come exclusively from the Vigneto Massoni, the oldest estate of the property. Situated at an altitude of eighty metres and trained using the Guyot system, the fifty-year-old vines benefit from a mild lakeside climate that encourages optimal ripening. The roots delve into deep chalky-clay soils, which impart a marked mineral character to the grapes, supporting the wine’s typical freshness and structural richness.
How it is produced
The harvest, carried out at the end of September, is followed by a gentle pressing of the grapes. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks for about fifteen to twenty days at a controlled temperature of sixteen to eighteen degrees, thus preserving the aromatic integrity of the grape variety. The wine then matures in steel for four or five months, maintaining its natural freshness. Before being released to the market, it undergoes a final refinement in bottle for two or three months, essential for harmonising the flavour profile and integrating the soft fruity sensations.
