Description
What kind of wine it is
The 50 & 50 by Capannelle is a still red wine from Tuscany, created from a refined blend of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes. With an intense ruby red colour, it offers a complex bouquet on the nose with aromas of black cherry and dried blueberries, accompanied by notes of bay leaf and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it stands out for its velvety and persistent texture, enriched by hints of ripe fruit and warm spicy nuances, leading to a long, balsamic finish. Its significant structure makes it ideal for pairing with game, red meats, mature cheeses and pork-based dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes selected for this blend come from two outstanding areas of Tuscany, located between Gaiole in Chianti and the Valiano di Montepulciano area. The vineyards grow on soils characterised by a composition of clay, silt and limestone, which give depth and vigour to the sip. The development of the vines benefits from the temperate Mediterranean climate typical of the Sienese hills. This project was born from the collaboration between the Avignonesi and Capannelle wineries, successfully harmonising two distinct territorial expressions.
How it is produced
Production begins with manual harvesting and careful selection of the bunches. Sangiovese and Merlot are grown and vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins for about twenty to twenty-five days, carried out in truncated conical vats of Slavonian oak. Afterwards, the wine completes its structural evolution through ageing in French oak barrels for twenty-four months, acquiring complexity and elegance.
