Description
What kind of wine it is
Turriga by Argiolas is a structured blend created from the union of native grape varieties such as Cannonau, Bovale, Carignano and Malvasia Nera. Its aromatic profile evokes intense scents of black fruits, black pepper and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it reveals power and a smooth texture, offering a balanced and persistent taste. At the table, it proves to be the ideal pairing for game meat, spicy beef stews and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes destined for this red wine are grown in Sardinia, in the vineyards of the Sa Tanca Estate in Serdiana. The vines are rooted in a medium limestone soil, a matrix that ensures the wine has a clear aromatic definition. The care of the vines is part of the heritage of knowledge of the Argiolas family, rooted in the area since the first half of the twentieth century. The local microclimate and the vocation of the Isola dei Nuraghi area guarantee a strong territorial identity and a distinct Mediterranean character.
How it is produced
After a careful selection of the grapes, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature. Maceration on the skins lasts up to eighteen days, using the délestage technique to modulate the extraction of tannins. Ageing continues for about two years in new French oak barrels, finishing with a long rest in the bottle. This production process gives the wine extraordinary elegance, ensuring a remarkable ageing potential estimated at over twelve years.
History and Curiosities
Born from the vision of Antonio Argiolas, Turriga embodies the excellence of the Sa Tanca Estate in Sardinia. This blended red combines the intensity of Cannonau with the elegance of Bovale, Carignano and Malvasia Nera, creating an extraordinarily rich bouquet. Awarded 96 points by James Suckling, it offers the palate a persistent experience, a true expression of Mediterranean character.

From their grand old man, a monument to an extraordinary entrepreneurial history, they have picked up the stubbornness and sense of challenge to the world, the simple and authentic joy of harvesting and crushing, the passion that springs from the bubbling musts and the effervescent young wines, the personality that defines the tenacious and mature wines, as soft as the limestone in which their roots are sunk, perfumed and savoury like the sea, long-lived like Sardinians.
In 1979 Antonio Argiolas, an established local entrepreneur, went to Argentina and California. These travels were a source of inspiration for him, and represented the beginning of a revolution; in fact these showed him the needs to overcome the parcelling out the countryside, which was widespread on the island, and to employ technologically advanced machines to work larger expanses of land under single ownership.
So, he acquired the lands of Selegas-Sa Tanca and Susini, the Winery’s largest estates. These are the places that Argiolas wine speak of, emblems of the strength, courage and farsightedness of the idea. Read more
