Description
What kind of wine it is
The Rosso di Valtellina by Ar.Pe.Pe. is a still red wine that expresses the authenticity of the Valtellina region through Chiavennasca grapes, the local name for Nebbiolo. This wine stands out for its classic and balanced style, able to combine freshness and structure. The artisanal dedication of the winery emerges in a sensory profile characterised by good body and supple tannins, which lead to a pleasant persistence with fruity and floral notes. Born from the desire to best showcase the fruits of the land, it offers a sip with a free-spirited and carefree character.
Where it comes from
The origins of this wine lie in the heart of Lombardy, within the evocative wine-growing landscape of Valtellina. Here, Ar.Pe.Pe. continues an agricultural expertise spanning over one hundred and fifty years, tending to grassed vineyards situated on mid-altitude slopes. The vines grow between 350 and 400 metres above sea level, benefiting from a valuable south-east exposure. In this challenging mountain setting, every stage of cultivation is carried out by hand, following the rhythms of nature to obtain grapes with a clear territorial expression.
How it is produced
The autumn harvest precedes a meticulous vinification process that involves a prolonged maceration of one hundred days in wooden vats. This stage encourages a precise extraction of noble components and defines the varietal character. Afterwards, the wine undergoes nine months of ageing, divided between vats, wooden barrels and concrete tanks, before completing its maturation in the bottle. Upon tasting, it presents a bright brilliant garnet colour. The bouquet is inviting, unfolding with hints of small red fruits, cherry, warm earth aromas, dog rose and subtle notes of cola.
History and Curiosities
Created in 2003 to ennoble the grapes of a particularly scorching summer, this Rosso di Valtellina DOC encapsulates over 150 years of artisanal dedication. The decision was made to enhance these grapes while still young, allowing the wine to develop a free and carefree character, even though they were not suitable for long ageing.
