Description

What kind of wine it is

Angelo Negro Roero Sudisfà Riserva is a red wine from Piedmont, originating from the Roero area, made from Nebbiolo grapes. In the glass, it displays a deep and intense garnet red colour. On the nose, it reveals enveloping aromas of red fruit and jam, enhanced by elegant notes of vanilla and green pepper. On the palate, the entry is bold and full of character, supported by a significant structure and tannins that are present yet silky. The sip unfolds into a broad and ethereal finish, offering a persistent sensation of warmth.

Where it comes from

The vineyards stretch across the hills of Roero, in the municipalities of Monteu Roero, Santo Stefano Roero and Canale. The vines, cultivated using the Guyot system at an altitude between 250 and 280 metres, benefit from optimal south and south-east exposure. The medium-textured calcareous soils give the wine a pronounced tannic finesse and a highly balanced profile. The Angelo Negro winery has cared for these lands since 1670, dedicatedly enhancing the authentic essence of the Piedmontese territory.

How it is produced

The manual harvesting of the grapes is followed by a slow submerged cap maceration lasting around twenty-four days, supported by délestage operations to extract the phenolic components in a balanced way. Ageing continues for thirty-two months in oak barrels and subsequently in the bottle, a process that shapes the tannins and ensures extraordinary longevity. To fully appreciate the wine’s complexity, it is recommended to decant for one hour and serve at a temperature of 18-20 °C.

History and Curiosities

Originating from the hills of Piedmont, this Roero DOCG Riserva embodies the centuries-old heritage of the Negro Angelo winery, founded in 1670. The 2021 vintage enhances the Nebbiolo grapes through a long traditional submerged cap maceration. Its significant structure and remarkable longevity are the result of a meticulous 32-month ageing process in oak barriques and bottles. Acclaimed by leading industry critics, this wine offers an enveloping sensory experience, an authentic expression of an outstanding wine-growing region.
