Description
What kind of wine it is
The Barolo from the Municipality of Serralunga d’Alba by Angelo Negro is a still red wine from Piedmont made from Nebbiolo grapes. It reveals a garnet red colour and an intense aromatic profile of spices, dried rose and small wild berries. On the palate, it is rich and full, with silky tannins well balanced thanks to traditional maceration and ageing in oak barrels. The tasting ends with precision and a persistent aftertaste of raspberry jam.
Where it comes from
Production is rooted in the Cerretta geographical mention, located in Serralunga d’Alba. The vineyards, trained using the Guyot system, are situated at an altitude between 300 and 400 metres, enjoying a bright south and south-west exposure that ensures optimal ripening of the grapes. The vines thrive on Miocene-Helvetian origin soils, characterised by a white calcareous-marl matrix. These geological features result in a pronounced territorial expression, true to the identity of the area.
How it is produced
The grapes are harvested by hand towards the end of October. Vinification involves a traditional maceration of about twenty days supported by délestage, aimed at balanced structural extraction. The maturation lasts thirty-eight months and includes ageing in Slavonian oak barrels followed by bottle refinement. This method ensures an ageing potential of over fifteen years. To best appreciate it, it is recommended to serve at 18°C after decanting.
