Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Silver Brut Nature by André Clouet is a Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Noir grapes. Produced using the Traditional Method, it is presented in a pas dosé style, meaning no additional dosage is added. In the glass, it reveals a perlage with medium-sized bubbles and a creamy texture, balanced by a distinctly mineral finish. The bouquet offers precise aromas of strawberry, apple and pear, leading to a delicate yet well-structured palate.
Where it comes from
The Champagne by André Clouet originates in Bouzy, on the southern side of Reims, from nine hectares of family-owned land located in historic Grand Cru vineyards. The area benefits from a dual continental and oceanic climate, ensuring proper hydration, limited temperature fluctuations and excellent sunlight for the ripening of Pinot Noir. The vine roots delve into chalky and calcareous soils, well-drained with slight clay content, natural elements that impart a pronounced mineral character and vibrant tension to the wine.
How it is produced
The vineyard management is based on targeted interventions, including green pruning and meticulous manual harvesting. The grapes are processed in an ancient press before the must ferments in steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. The secondary fermentation takes place according to the Traditional Method, followed by extended ageing on the lees in the estate’s historic chalk cellars. The period on the pupitres concludes with manual remuage and disgorgement, preserving the wine’s clarity and integrity.
History and Curiosities
Since 1741, the André Clouet family has cultivated the prestigious terroirs of Bouzy, enhancing ten hectares classified as Grand Cru. The label, in Ancien Régime style, celebrates the roots of the maison, which are reflected in the elegance of this pure non-dosage Blanc de Noirs. Combining traditional methods and precision, the grapes are processed in traditional presses before being aged for a long time in the historic chalk cellars. The manual disgorgement ensures this wine has a well-structured profile, with a creamy palate and a mineral finish.

It took more than two centuries and several generations of Clouet to get plots of vines in the terroir of Bouzy, which remain in the hands of the family of its founder. Bouzy is situated in the Southern part of the Mountain of Reims. The 9 hectares are classified as 100% Grand Cru. Only 17 of the 300 existing villages benefit from the status of Grand Cru, Bouzy being one of them. Lovingly tended vines ripen perfectly Bouzy pinot noir, one of the world's most complex strains. There is 8,000 feet per acre and soils are cool with calcareous clay. Read more
