Description

What kind of wine it is

Fieramonte is a red wine from Veneto by Allegrini, a pure expression of Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva. This dry and structured wine is made from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Oseleta and Rondinella grapes, offering a dense palate with very smooth tannins. The bouquet reveals notes of blackberry jam, cherry and dried fruit, which evolve into clear hints of wilted flowers, liquorice, coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate. Nuances of pink pepper and cloves complete the bouquet, leading to a long and persistent finish with a pleasant almondy aftertaste. A glass of extraordinary elegance and longevity.

Where it comes from

The roots of this red wine lie in the heart of Valpolicella, in the historic Classico area. The vineyards, cultivated using the Guyot method, stretch over four hundred metres above sea level with optimal south-east exposure. The clay soils rich in pebbles, characterised by a high concentration of magnesium and iron, give the wine structure and a fine minerality. The synergy between altitude and soil properties ensures extraordinary aromatic precision and a perfect balance between sugar content and acidity, resulting in a compact and rigorous flavour profile.

How it is produced

Production is based on the drying of the grapes, which begins with meticulous manual selection of the bunches. The fruit rests in drying rooms until it loses about half its weight, naturally concentrating sugars and extracts. In January, after crushing and destemming, fermentation begins in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Deep maturation takes place in new French oak barrels for forty-eight months. Afterwards, the definition of the blend requires a further six months in wood, followed by a slow final ageing to sculpt its definitive balance.

History and Curiosities

The Fieramonte by Allegrini celebrates the historic tradition of appassimento: the bunches, selected in September, are left to rest until they lose almost half their weight, thus concentrating precious aromas. The 2016 vintage, characterised by a mild summer with excellent temperature variations, produced grapes with perfect acidity. This masterpiece takes shape through fermentation in steel and a masterful ageing of 48 months in new barriques, followed by a long rest in the bottle, resulting in a multi-award-winning wine of extraordinary elegance.

Allegrini is one of the most important and authoritative wineries in Italy. Known for its production of Valpolicella Classica, the Allegrini winery boasts one hundred hectares of vineyards located on the hills of Fumane, Sant'Ambrogio and San Pietro in Cariano.

Belonging to the family of the same name since the 16th century, the Allegrini winery is located in the Valpolicella Classica area: in particular, it is situated where vines such as corvina, molinara and rondinella give life to what are considered some of the best red wines of the Peninsula. xtraWine offers numerous bottles of Allegrini Allegrini wines that stand out for their refinement and elegance, very pleasant and capable of enveloping you with every sip, conquering even the most demanding palates. This is due to continuous improvements in production such as the introduction of the use of barriques alongside the traditional large barrels, and even a reduction in the ageing period so as not to alter too much the quality of the grapes used.

Not only Valpolicella, on xtraWine you can find Allegrini wines such as Amarone, Valpolicella and Recioto.
