Costa Delle Vigne Pigato Riviera Ligure Ponente Vigne Veggie by Massimo Alessandri is a structured white wine that enhances the most authentic expression of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente. Made exclusively from Pigato grapes, it stands out for its clear aromatic profile and remarkable capacity to evolve over time. On the palate, it offers an enveloping and elegant sip, ideal for harmoniously accompanying delicate dishes of lean fish and platters of selected cheeses.

Where it comes from

The vineyards grow in the area of Ranzo, in the heart of western Liguria, enjoying optimal exposure to the south and east. The vines take root between 350 and 450 metres above sea level on soils rich in stones. These soils, composed of a sandy and clayey matrix with a characteristic reddish colour due to the presence of iron and aluminium oxides, are well-drained and low in water. These pedoclimatic conditions favour complete ripening of the grapes, giving great concentration to the wine.

How it is produced

The harvest takes place at the end of September, followed by gentle destemming and cold static clarification. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature to preserve the integrity of the fruit, while malolactic fermentation is inhibited or only partially carried out. The wine matures for a long time on its own lees in wooden barrels, then moves to steel tanks until it naturally clarifies. The process ends with significant bottle ageing before being released for sale.

Massimo Alessandri cultivates his vineyard in the heart of the Imperia hinterland, in Costa Parrocchia in Ranzo, a village that slopes down with spectacular terraces facing the valley.

The vines are all grown using the Guyot method on a seven-hectare plot at an altitude of 280 to 400 metres above sea level.

For a long time this area has been known for the cultivation of vineyards bravely placed between the mountains and the sea, favoured by the mild climate and the many precious days of sunshine. Moreover, the composition of the soil, calcareous-clayey, is able to provide the grapes with all the nutrients and minerals they need.

On this morphologically complex land, Massimo Alessandri works and produces wines that have experienced such extraordinary growth that he is himself considered one of the most reliable vigneron in the region, pursuing the highest standards of grape quality with passion and dedication.

Harvest after harvest, Massimo Alessandri harvests grapes that are healthy, pure and rich in every tiny organoleptic trace. The result is fresh, pure and elegant wines that speak of tradition, generous and tenacious wines that tell of the true Ligurian soul.

The cellar is equipped with the most up-to-date winemaking technology, used with the utmost respect for the most historic and solid local traditions. Before refining in the bottle, the maturation of the grapes for some types of wine, such as Viorus, Seiana and Ligustico, takes place in 600-litre French oak barrels; while for others, such as Vermentino and Pigato, the most modern temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks are used.
