Description
What kind of wine is it
The Alsace Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg by Albert Boxler is a still semi-aromatic white wine made from Riesling grapes in Alsace. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour. The aromatic profile reveals a precise character, highlighting mineral notes of talc and powder intertwined with delicate rose aromas, pear and gooseberry. On the palate, it shows great freshness, with a decisive entry and a pronounced minerality leading to a long, herbaceous finish.
Where does it come from
The roots of this Riesling lie in Alsace, in the commune of Niedermorschwihr, within the renowned Grand Cru Sommerberg. Albert Boxler carefully selects individual plots to reflect the specific soil and climate conditions of this prestigious area. This agricultural management gives the wine a profound minerality and a local identity, a faithful expression of the Alsace Grand Cru designation. The pedoclimatic characteristics also ensure its extraordinary longevity.
How is it produced
Production involves careful fermentation and slow ageing, carried out in both stainless steel and wooden barrels. This balanced approach enhances the aromatic precision of the grape variety and gives the wine an elegant and defined structure. Thanks to its savoury component and persistent finish with hints of green fruit, this white is ideal for refined food pairings. It is particularly recommended to accompany mature cheeses, white meats and fish dishes.
