Description
What kind of wine it is
Agnanum Piedirosso Sabbia Vulcanica is a still red wine from Campania produced by the Agnanum winery. The result of a fascinating blend of Piedirosso and Barbera, this label authentically expresses the character of the Campi Flegrei. In the glass, it displays a vibrant ruby red hue, enhanced by bright purple highlights. The aromatic profile opens with pleasant notes of wild berries, accompanied by delicate floral nuances. On the palate, the sip is distinctly fresh and savoury, offering a satisfying and well-structured drink.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the evocative territory of Campania, on the hills of the Astroni nature reserve, in the heart of the renowned Campi Flegrei. In this historic area, the Agnanum winery practises rigorous heroic viticulture, tending to steep terraced slopes managed exclusively by hand. The vines grow on soil composed of deep volcanic sand, a natural element that imparts a distinctive mineral character to the sip, reflecting the identity and strength of an ancient landscape.
How it is produced
The production process begins among the rows with a late harvest, followed by a rigorous manual selection of the best bunches to ensure the excellence of the raw material. In the winery, the processes follow meticulous traditional methods, aimed at preserving the primary aromas of Piedirosso and Barbera and the influence of the original terroir. To enhance the elegance of the organoleptic profile, delayed release takes place after a year of ageing, allowing the wine to achieve perfect gustatory harmony.
History and Curiosities
Born in the heart of the enchanting Astroni Reserve, this Campania IGT embodies the heroic viticulture project launched by the Moccia family in 1960. On the steep terraces of volcanic sand, the vines require meticulous manual care, with minimal yields and late harvesting. An accurate recovery plan, started in 1960 by the founder Gennaro Moccia and continued with equal enthusiasm by his son Raffaele who, in order to follow the company closely, gave up his free profession as an agro-technician, has made it possible to fully exploit the wine resources of this area.
The Moccia vineyards stand on the hills of the Astroni di Agnano nature reserve, where the particular slope of the hill, with its terraced layout, allows only manual management of the same, based on continuous shaping of the terrain, thus guaranteeing the right water supply through the creation of small basins created near each individual vine.
The careful selection of the grapes, the very low yields per hectare (approximately 30-40 Ql), the late harvest, and the marketing postponed for about a year after the harvest, guarantee the high quality of the final product, while any residues at the bottom of the bottles testify to its genuineness.
From the vineyard to the wine, the tradition and care of the Moccia family allow the products to be enhanced with a flavour and aroma that is always appreciated and appreciated even by the most demanding consumers.
Produced in a limited edition, Agnanum is the natural second result of winemaking using traditional methods. Read more
