Description
What kind of wine it is
Agnanum Per’e Palumm is a still red wine from Campania, a pure expression of the Piedirosso grape variety. In the glass, it displays a ruby red hue, heralding an aromatic profile dominated by clear red fruit aromas. On the palate, it is fleshy, fresh and fruity, reflecting an essential style that aims for maximum varietal consistency. It pairs ideally with pork, roasts and cheese selections, revealing its gastronomic vocation when served slightly chilled after a one-hour decanting.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the volcanic hills adjacent to the Astroni nature reserve, located in the historic area of the Campi Flegrei denomination in Campania. The vineyard is set on terraced slopes that require entirely manual agricultural management, characterised by the continual reshaping of the soil through small hollows at the base of each vine. The volcanic soils, rich in valuable microelements, give the vines a distinctive mineral character that translates into the pronounced freshness and vibrant fruity imprint of the sensory profile.
How it is produced
Production is based on careful selection of the bunches, maintaining low yields and carrying out a late harvest to concentrate the aromatic potential. In the winery, a respectful vinification approach is adopted, following artisanal methods and completely excluding filtration. This specific technical choice preserves the integrity of the liquid, encouraging the presence of natural sediments that bear witness to a careful and genuine process. Before release, the wine is aged for about a year, a crucial step to ensure the wine achieves optimal structural stability.
History and Curiosities
This Piedirosso originates from the volcanic hills of the Astroni Nature Reserve, where the terraced rows of the Campi Flegrei require entirely manual care. The 2023 vintage of Agnanum is the result of low yields and a late harvest, which ensure authentic and original aromas. The non-interventionist vinification and absence of filtration preserve the essence of the land, leaving natural sediments that certify the wine's genuineness. This limited edition offers a fleshy sip, an expression of Campanian viticulture.

An accurate recovery plan, started in 1960 by the founder Gennaro Moccia and continued with equal enthusiasm by his son Raffaele who, in order to follow the company closely, gave up his free profession as an agro-technician, has made it possible to fully exploit the wine resources of this area.
The Moccia vineyards stand on the hills of the Astroni di Agnano nature reserve, where the particular slope of the hill, with its terraced layout, allows only manual management of the same, based on continuous shaping of the terrain, thus guaranteeing the right water supply through the creation of small basins created near each individual vine.
The careful selection of the grapes, the very low yields per hectare (approximately 30-40 Ql), the late harvest, and the marketing postponed for about a year after the harvest, guarantee the high quality of the final product, while any residues at the bottom of the bottles testify to its genuineness.
From the vineyard to the wine, the tradition and care of the Moccia family allow the products to be enhanced with a flavour and aroma that is always appreciated and appreciated even by the most demanding consumers.
Produced in a limited edition, Agnanum is the natural second result of winemaking using traditional methods. Read more
