Description

The Monterotondo is the Cru of Villa Sparina, obtained from rich and complex grapes grown on a historic piece of the terroir in an excellent position. Separately vinified using artisan methods, the Monterotondo gives the palate that characteristic which makes the association between the terroir and the Cortese grape unique: freshness, minerality, tastiness, acidity, vein, longevity and elegance. The extraordinary quality of this white wine improves with age. Each year, from 1997 to the present, is a delicious journey through the flavours of a unique land.

Perfume

Perfume

The bouquet is articulated and complex, playing on the sweetness of lime honey, cedar rind, chamomile, and peaches in syrup, together with a sensation of single malt whisky. It closes with buttery chimes and a fascinating mineral vein reminiscent of hydrocarbon.

Color

Color

Shiny gold with emerald reflections.

Taste

Taste

Aristocratic taste, deep, seems a Meursault of a few years of ageing, with references to minerals and butter. The acidity is still powerful, and the finish is pleasantly tasty, fruity and persistent.

The Villa Sparina estate comprises 100 hectares, of which 60 hectares are vineyards surrounded by woods, ventilated by Ligurian breezes and kissed by the sun. Most of the vineyards are cultivated with Cortese and are located on the slopes of Monterotondo, while in Cassinelle, in a splendid basin, there are about 4 hectares cultivated with Dolcetto di Ovada Doc grapes.

In Monterotondo, the sun, woods and sea breezes combine to create an ideal microclimate for ripening grapes and producing quality wine. Here, amidst the cellars and vineyards of yesteryear, the Moccagatta family has created the Azienda Agricola Villa Sparina, a winery that has drawn its strength from tradition and its modernity from creative innovation.

Today, Villa Sparina is a prestigious label that values the tradition of fine wine and is distinguished by the unmistakable shape of its bottles.
